I just got five robocallers in a row this morning. All the same message in Mandarin from different 1-800 numbers. This is ridiculous.

That can't be it, they know that if they sell your info repeat business isn't likely. I never use my credit card, so they're probably pissed I'm not one of the dumb-asses that carries a balance

Generic stock photos and generic description, it's a KSL serial killer

That’s really smart, I wonder if that’ll work.

My number has been on the Do Not Call registry since 2004 but it doesn’t stop them.

I don’t say “hello” when it comes to unknown numbers. They’re listening for a response. A normal human being will say hello.

I get 2 - 5 a day for the past few months, it's getting fucking ridiculous. I block each one after they call but they always call again using different numbers, and 99% of the time it's from my area code (626). Always some lady robot speaking in a foreign language with elevator music in the background.

I don't answer them anymore either, just let them ring through or cancel the call. Some news story about this whole thing said that if you don't answer they eventually remove your number, but that hasn't happened for me yet.

They’re targeting Chinese immigrants. A rough translation of it is “we have your immigration papers at the embassy, if you do not pay xx amount of money you will be deported.”

Git to it! Well at least the statement balance, paying off the total doesn't net you the same good credit boost but it's still a lot better than paying in installments.

I answer the phone like Uncle Jessie from Full House... "Talk to me"

Does it smell as bad as it looks?

I used to get those fake IRS phone calls too where'd they leave you a voicemail saying you're going to be arrested if you don't call them back and settle your supposed "debt" with them. I called them back and called them out on being a fucking scam and they haven't called me again since.

These robo calls are the worst though since you can't vent your frustration to an actual English speaking human being lol.

Government agencies will never call you, I don't know why that is so hard for people to comprehend. They have to have verification it is actually you, they will send a certified letter or a police officer if it is that important

yeah the only credit cards worth having are the ones where you at least get cash back or travel points, I never understood the point of opening up a credit card that has no reward system.

yeah that's for dumb rich people lol. I guess AMEX has their own rewards though, but yeah it's not a cheap membership to have.

Although I do hear they're one of the best ones to deal with if you have to contest charges and stuff like that.

Not having rewards keeps me from spending too much and wasting money. I just want the credit.
