That can be very hard on a family. None of it in my family, but there's a friend who has her issues and she's on and off her meds and just can't string more than a year really on them. Sweetest awesomest chick you could meet.... Until she decides she's fine and doesn't need meds. I woulda never believed any of the 'you can't blame them, they're sick, it's not their fault' stuff until I experienced it with a friend. And I tell you it's very real. It's a true sickness meaning not in their control. Anywho, always be nice because you just don't know what someone has been through :D:D

I went and looked at the 4Runners(no tacos there of course) at the local pick n pull. They were pretty bare but it's crazy in general how many Toyotas have been sold here but so few go to the junkyards

is that because so few are involved in major collisions with structural damage deemed too costly to repair by insurance companies?

I think ones with mechanical problems are more likely to end up being parted out or fixed and sent across the border.

The only Tacos and 3rd gen+ 4Runners I see are wrecked. The rest if not wrecked are 88-95 with a 3VZE and who wants that?

Years ago I was a Ford guy. My 77 F250 400M 4 speed on 38's is still my favorite rig I've ever owned. Anyway, one day I'm arguing with my buddy who's a Toyota guy. He's been a Toyo guy since before it was cool. The dude knows his shit. As we're arguing about longevity he suggests we go to the junkyard. I figured he needed a part for one of his 8 rigs.

I hop in and we get to the yard. It's got a water storage tank adjacent to it. He gets out and heads right to the tank. We scramble up and he tosses me a beer and a pair of binocs. "Count the number of Fords and count the number of Toyotas" he says. I spent the better part of a six pack doing just that. I forget the exact numbers but it was pretty close to a 10 to 1 Ford to Toyo ratio. He made his point and I sold my 250 not that long after. lol

It's because most folks choose to have them retain a totaled title but have them fixed anyway. It's the trust in the product

Buuuuuttt that was the best Ferd they made. That body style on big tires looked so goooooooooood and those big V8s....
But reliability and longevity are what matter in my head. What's in your head is important to you and I respect that:D
