Sounds like the contractor isn’t staying closed. The fan should stay on.. go push the contractor down and see if it stays on

I appreciate all of the advice, you guys have done a ton to help! HVAC seems to be one of the areas where DIY is kept a mystery in favor of calling in the pros

I bought Valvoline Synth ATF because that's the best they had, I'll have to keep an eye out for M1

I've been listening to the Lateralus album all morning lol

I hear they're coming out with a new album soon...but Tool is renowned for taking forever to come up with new music.

10,000 Days was the last one and I think it came out in what...2005?

I did finally get to see them live a couple years ago. I was obsessed with them back in the early 2000s but never got to see them in person (did see APC though, that was cool).

They were touring with Primus and some other bands in 2016 and my brother and I got to see them, was awesome but after a couple hours I was tired and wanted to beat traffic and go home lol. Wish I had seen them 15 years ago

I know man and I hate that, because it's the same freaking principles and theories as anything else BUT HVAC services got folks convinced that they should always call them when 75% of hvac can be DIY safely

why would they want to come and change a $20-150 part when they can quote you $5-10K for a full new system + install? BS

I was quoted $5900 for new central air + install and my coworker was like, "hey, I just got quoted and was wondering if it was inline". They quoted him $8k (higher COL area though)

Jeez Luiz yeah they rake you over the coals and QUOTE you a system when you specifically ask for a diagnostic of the issue not a quote on new system. You pay him 150 bucks, or whatever a diagnostic is, he should at least tell you what part/s failed right?

Most that is unit cost.. but if you already have everything ran for ac its super easy to hook up. Its when you dont have the power and line sets ran it gets expensive.

I think that most folks can manage automotive AC since it's designed with lots of slop and wiggle room. But when it comes to commercial and even home AC leave everything besides condenser coil cleaning and run capacitors to the pros. Plus 90% of still warrantied equip will be voided if a customer fucks with it.

Ever watch HVACR on YouTube? That dude is a resource like no other. But he also demonstrates how tough it would be for a DIY guy to even do a halfway decent job without the tools and prior knowledge of a pro.
