I have a couple bungees lying around so that's what I use when needed.

 

Good idea, I have a bunch of those in my truck. Just wrap one around the filter should give enough grip to get it off by hand.

 

Was it the new Ranger or something that has the oil filter is some obscure area that you have to jack up the truck and take the tire off and remove something else to get to it? Thought they had to disconnect a power steering line or something. At least we don't have to deal with that.

 

No way to effectively two hand a 3rz filter. A socket or claw type wrench on about 10" of extensions and a ratchet seems to work best. Or a strap wrench if you crawl under from behind the tire and go up by the cats. Then embrace the mess lol.

 

Do you guys use one of these filter tools? I've got one that requires this to get into tight location to free the filter. That one only works with a specific size OEM filter.

 

Yikes, that pavement is gonna be toasty. Im gonna wait until early september to do mine.

 

Yes but there isnt a diff in the way of that one.

 

Eh, I dont think every 6 months is really necessary but you do you as they say. Mine is still really gooey from doing it 10 months ago. Ill just stick to before each winter.

I would wait until october/november of this year, but my final day for a free frame is october sometime. Gonna go over that thing with a magnifying glass lol. Doubt Ill find anything, but its still worth checking.

 

Silicon potholder also works but the Mrs might not be happy if she catches you

i wanted to go to Torrance and hit the beaches, not to Texas

Yep. They packed up and moved to TX. Gulf States is headquartered in Houston. Trucks are made in TX.

 

That’s what Cali will tax you for that.
