Yeah I wanted to get the exact preformed hose that broke. We got it working. I’m replacing the radiator tomorrow.

The stock one? Yeah, it was from 1993 and had a 3" gash in it which caused the engine to overheat and spew coolant everywhere.

 

It was $15, I replaced it three hours ago.

 

No, the hose. A Duralast Radiator is about $80.

 

Oh god avoid the auto parts shit. Order denso or something. Nothing sucks more than a shitty radiator leaking out of the box.

He needs the car yesterday and can't wait for one to be shipped in, so let's hope Duralast is okay. Hell I repaired that heater hose in the parking lot for a sketchy shopping plaza.

 

Thermostat, t-stat housing and seal, water pump, upper/lower radiator hoses are brand new. I just changed them two weeks ago. The only three hoses I haven't changed are the three heater core hoses, one of them I changed today.

 

This impeller was all metal. My running theory is when he drove 400 yards with the temperature gauge on red, it damaged the radiator. It is the original 26 year old radiator after all. He lost half his coolant, I put half a gallon in.

 

He drove 400 yards up a 14% grade with the engine completely overheating low on coolant. That most certainly would cause damage to the radiator.

 

Correct. He lost half his coolant, all the coolant was exiting through that bad heater core hose hence all the smoke.

It's also an almost 30 year old radiator, this was just the nail in the coffin.

 

He was offered $5,500 by his coworker to buy that car. He turned it down.

That car is worth $2,000 max, on a really good day. His dad didn't let him hear the end of it after he told him he turned it down.

 

It’s a 1993 Honda Civic EX Coupe 1.6l I4 VTEC. Roughly 170k. That’s the best pic I got.

 

It isn’t opaque because it’s Glass. Glass headlights were still a thing in 1993.

 

Maybe you were looking at the Del Sol, all standard Civics of this generation had glass headlights.
