That's actually the entire reason electro throttles are a thing is for removing user input to smooth things so economy is better

Honestly I thought it was for weight savings, I know throttle cable weighs very little. But definitely would keep those fuel gulping blips from happening. It's actually a good thing for 99% of drivers, no? I guess additional unneeded cost though as well. Interesting.

It's a good thing for fuel economy. The computer saves you from unnecessary fuel usage. You can make them super responsive if the ECU is open and programmable. An electro throttle can react super fast too, they just dont because that's how the manufacturer has them set
