So I take it you had to buy a bigger regulator?

I’m not running one at all. I just use the ball valve to regulate it.

I wonder what it cost him him to run all that plus his time vs take it all to a sandblasting shop

Why, and spend more money? Makes no sense.

You realize they’d charge per hour, or per item right? Would cost a hell of a lot more than the $130 the compressor costs to rent.

We’re talking about 20 hours of labor plus whatever they charge per item. That’s into the thousands of dollars.

How much is your time a hour worth, and how much does it cost to run a blasting setup that long

That’s currently what I’m doing. Regulating just makes it more lame.

The machine just costs the $130 plus whatever Diesel it eats up. As for my time, it’s a hell of a lot less than shutting down a sandblasting shop to blast 200 horns.

I remember running the cabinet at school on full pressure a few times. Was like 120-130 psi. Couldnt see inside cause the vacuum couldnt keep up. Just had to guestimate on the progress being made.

If I had to guess, it’s running at about 130-140 PSI. My dust collector can keep up, it’s just the plastic sheet that protects the glass gets etched in a few minutes.

Why would I spend $1,300 when I can do it myself for less?

I’m saying you are investing 1300$ To do it yourself if you add up your own hourly rate and cost to run stuff

You need a pretty hefty air compressor to run a soda blast tank. What’re you blasting?

I’ll worry about that stuff later. I’m still small scale that I can handle it myself.

Hourly rate doesnt really matter when its a one man show lol. Unless its a service being offered, not a product. If anything his cost shouldnt be that different. Running his old compressor like he did, I imagine jacked up the electric bill some.
