Street View is fun. I don’t actually have any pictures of my truck stock.

It sat in front of my house abandoned since 2010, only being used once or twice a year. When I started driving it in 2015, I changed the oil for the first time since 2009. It only had about 70,000 miles. It was formerly a company fleet vehicle that was barely used.

We got a note in the windshield like every other month wanting to buy it. It was covered in cobwebs and bird shit yet people still wanted it.

And look, the clear coat is still okay!

It's not that kind of desert, it basically just looks like the shitty parts of big cities except all over until there is just dirt and cacti.

I used to live in a place that looked like this... and actually had lots of buildings about 20 miles northeast from where this was taken (because like I said Spokane wasn't far out, it is one of those places where you could get to nowhere pretty fast, but nowhere was far more beautiful than Spokane anyway)

And now I live in this dumpster fire of people and buildings...

Is the Student discount that great? Just seems to me, the quality of SO is not really worth the extra price premium.

The Husky brand or something similar with a great warranty that you can use anywhere at any time would make more sense.

Sorry, I don't even think the pro wrencher's need an entire SO tool kit. Yes, there are some tools that SO produces that are proven to be superior, but the vast majority are only marginally better than Craftsman.

Secondly, I refuse to wait for the SO truck to show up so I can warranty a tool. I want to go to Lowes, HD, HF and get it replaced at my convinence.

It’s a reaaaalllly steep discount. Like 60-70% off retail price. Like you can buy a decent box that retails for $30,000 for around $12,000, for example.

I plan on using these tools forever so I figured I’d get it out of the way now while I don’t pay any bills or have any kids.

I still think that's a pretty big waste for most tools. Kirk and I only agree partially on most things, but he's right here. People always think overkill is just more expensive for better, but overkill can be bad too. You'll be treated like a commercial customer and likely not extended any courtesy just because you paid a premium

I wouldn’t mind living in Washington. Seattle is beautiful. I’d live anywhere in the Pacific Northwest, just as long as it’s not in the boonies.

I just plan on getting a socket set and some basic hand tools since that’s what I use 90% of the time. I’m happy with my Habor Freight impact gun and sockets, for example. Speciality Tools like pullers, diagnostic tools, etc I go Harbor Freight or Tekton.

I could take you places in WA that would absolutely blow your mind and I bet by the end you'd want to live closer to the east than the west of WA. In fact, I'll extend this offer, once you put your bumpers and sliders on as well as any suspension you feel you need I'll give you "the tour" and you can judge for yourself. It'd be camping with the occasional stay in a house (I have friends all over WA that would let us crash for a night so you could see the cities too)

We'll plan for a summer trip then, considering a lot of WA trails get sloppy in Fall and Spring and are rightfully closed in Winter. I'll ask you again about it closer to but before next summer and see what's up. Hopefully you decide to invest in an RTT haha

I've ran Kennedy tool boxes for the 20 years. My everyday tool chest is a Kennedy unit I inherited from my father in 1990. It was at least 10 years old then. All the drawers still work fine and every scratch is a memory that I wont erase by painting the thing.

I still toss 6" "c" clamps into the open drawers from across the bay. Sometimes I miss and hit a closed drawer.

My $300 Kennedy is worth more to me than $700 version of SO. That $400 was spent on things I really need.

I often cringe when I see the SO trucks in front of any repair shop. I think to myself, "I wonder who is getting bent over this time".

Why do I see them more often on Fridays as well? The best wrencher's are the worse money handlers and the least will power? I dunno.

I'm in the process of actually thinning down my tool collections. Running 4 different tool boxes in 4 different location is getting old. I've found that I don't need as many tools as I think I do.

    Anyone need any plyers?[IMG]

Agreed, jealous of all the pushlock adjusting pliers BTW, I bought my first tiny ass box when I was living in an apt, had a box of tools in my closet and loved it (cheapo HF box that I still have), I filled that super fast and bought my current Milwaukee box for a shade under $500 on sale and I'm one drawer off from filling it and using the HF for overflow. But I don't ever just go tool shopping, I wait until I need something or I know I will need something for a project and then I make the addition, that way it takes time and everything can justify its cost and space usage.

Genuinely curious, why do you need so many channel lock pliers?

Most of those pliers were found. They are dropped in the cooling tower basins all the time. One of my jobs is to drain and clean those basins. I keeps what I finds.

If the owners names are legible I hunt them up and return them. Most times they have already been replaced and I'm told they are mine now.

This is what happens when you buy sets, you end up with duplicates when you really only needed or wanted one or two haha

I’d love an RTT. But I’m sure someone would call the cops on me for camping at the Mall.

Once I get all this crap on the truck, I’ll look into investing in one.

When I hear “cooling tower”, I think of a nuclear power plant. What do you do for a living?

Of course. I personally can’t think of anything else though besides industrial power generating applications.

I don't really know why but I just ordered an OEM hand throttle for my Land Cruiser, found an OEM one cheap on eBay and just had to have it. Now I guess I can lock the RPM high for AC performance haha... it was supposed to be used to idle up for the factory winch.
