Alright, bank of TacomaWorld, tell me if I'm being financially smart. I'm about to commit to some 3rd gen 4Runner 5 star wheels. Been looking for a set for awhile. He had them up for $360 with some tires on them. I talked him into $120 without the tires. Normally that would be a no-brainer. But as of Tomorrow afternoon, I will be jobless and my last check will come next Friday. I sorta kinda not really have an interview set up at another place, just need to call and confirm. But, I may be jobless for a few weeks. Is it smart to buy these wheels?

2nd gen Trd offroad that I painted. I like them but I dont love them. Mainly due to the backspacing, I want to step up to a 265-75, these T4R rims will give me 4.625" of backspacing which will be enough. Id have to wait on switching them out because the ones I'm looking at are black, and I dont like black rims. Id have to set them aside and save some to get them powdercoated as I dont want to sand and paint wheels again.

@Speedytech7 this was what Icon suggested as far as slowing down my rebound. Add three shims, or go to a 20 stack. That is above my pay grade and am about to educate myself on this lol but here is the info. Highlighted are the shims to add and the part number 51036B83-F787-4072-BFA7-277551A73734.jpg

If you don't know where or when your next source of income is going to drop, I'd pass. Wheels will always come and go, food on the table, bill pay, etc should be the priority - but that's me.

Throw your stock wheels back on for the time being if you still have them - no worries about backspace with them. Anyway, good luck. Hey, it could be worse:

and like you, I dont want his tires lol

@Speedytech7 I didn't want to admit it back when I was putting my new front bump stops in, but I did end up using JB weld on the one that had the stripped thread on the LCA (driver's side)... I posted about it after the fact lol. Anyhow it's been a few weeks now and I hit a 4x4 trail last night after work, ran it pretty hard too thinking I'd need to order a new bump stop for that side expecting it to fall off...much to my surprise that little fucker is still on there solid. Hopefully it continues to hold...if it ever does come off I'll put it on the right way (rethread the hole up 1 size). I was pretty amazed that thing stayed put and shows no signs of being compromised, at least not yet.

They work great too, definitely got a lot of contact with the strike plate. Noticed my back end is a bit stiffer now with the Expos but not too bad, small price to pay for quieter springs and better load capacity

I would, unfortunately there’s only a few beaches in California where you can legally drive on the sand. You can’t here.

@BartMaster1234 I'm going to have my truck with me up in Santa Cruz the last weekend of Sept. for my wedding...we'll have to find a way to squeeze in a half day or so of some 4x4'ing at Hollister Hills or something and get those tires dirty for real
