Yeah just ended up running it, eventually all the grease got out and the boot collapsed but the cheap parts store CV still survived the 4x4 trip. Didn't want to chance it any longer than that though

Grease is a lot different than water of course, one time I repaired a tub to drain pump hose on a washer for these old folks. The hose was NLA and couldn't bring myself to tell them to go get a newer washer, this was a trailer park and you can tell how poor they were. Told them to let me take the hose home and try and repair it. Used the bicycle inner tube patch kit and it's been awhile but last I heard few months ago still running without leaking. Those are the repairs I love to do. Something about making stuff last longer so you don't have to toss it that is just extremely satisfying for some weird reason.

Isn't that like Godfathers Pizza? Sounds familiar, maybe they have those in western Washington?

I normally eat about 3 times a day at work alone...and twice more outside of work (morning and evening).

I ate eggs and sausage this morning at home, bagel bakery just before I got to work, jack in the box breakfast platter, sushi, and now pizza and I still have 5 hrs left to go.

Engaging 4hi or lo will stop any vibes or noises caused by the needle bearing. If it clicks or vibrates in 4wd youve got another issue. Also any CV will pop when in 4wd on hard ground at full lock. Thats why youre not supposed to do that. :smack:

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
So... Looks like my starter contacts are toast. Haven't looked at them, but the starter is taking 10-12 turns of the ignition key before it will start the truck.

30 bucks for a Dorman contact replace kit
95 bucks for a Reman Denso Starter (with no core)

I know the answer... just had to type out my dilemma.

Install rebuilt denso, then rebuild your stock one as a spare.

    Great minds think alike.

I just really don't want to have to go tell the wife I need to drop another hundred bucks on my truck right now... I've been a little fast and loose with the truck funds lately.

I broke my transmission jack doing this when I put the new trasmission in the flatbed.

It broke the tilt function and I had to ratchet strap the jack together to finish the job. Brought it back to Harbor Freight and got my $130 back.

Oh brother... I'm a pro at those tricks. I'm trying to turn over a new leaf though. lol

We're planning on going camping this weekend. There's really no choice in this matter. 100 bucks for a starter... or probably 300 bucks for a tow truck AND THEN another 100 bucks for the starter anyway.

The language barrier was a lot bigger of an issue for me when I lived in Del Rio.

I bought my jack used off Craigslist. The couple brought it with them after moving. It had an inventory tag that said “Auburn, Georgia” on it
