once again not ball joint failure... the failure was the bolts. and i bet you didnt use new ones when you installed the manual hub spindles.
in all reality they wouldnt of failed if it wernt for the 4x4 swap

hmm apparently im blind... that no reusable symbol on the component list is near the bolts.. but uh.. totally not for those bolts.
but regardless i just replace them these days.. i dont trust them (i live in the rest belt mind you). they cheap enough, i run new ones and torque them with my torque wrench

gotta be careful with loctite. it throws torque readings off

I’m happy it broke as I was pulling out of the Safeway. I drove about 100 feet before it started giving the death wobbles. Pulled right back into the parking lot.

I’m not leaving my truck unattended overnight in Downtown San Francisco. Where do you expect me to get tools and parts at 9 PM at night? If I left it there past closing the city would’ve towed it away. The tow truck driver told me it would’ve cost me $700 to get it out of impound.

Well, he (they) also had an opportunity to swap out the originals for new along with new bolts when the coilovers were swapped out when stinkbug was born.

yeah screw that, i would've paid for the tow as well. wouldn't have even tried to change it out in a parking lot in the city. nope. not happening.

I happily paid that driver the couple hundred bucks to take it back somewhere I know that’s safe. I’m not risking a broken in truck or even one thrown in impound. This was the cheapest route.

If it was 2 PM? Maybe I would’ve gone to Autozone and got temporary ball joints to fix it and get me home. But at 9 PM? There’s nothing you can do but tow it somewhere else.

We’re not in Texas, this is a big metropolitan city that doesn’t give a shit about your vehicle.
