They're saying on the news they might shut it off in SoCal tomorrow through Saturday/Sunday too, supposed to be getting up to 70 mph winds over the next two days. Annual Santa Ana winds are back and it's supposed to be hot this weekend

This is some 3rd world country BS btw, shutting off half the state's power supply because it's windy.

800,000 people are without power here in the Bay. I heard Con Edison is following suit.

800k is an astounding amount of people. They’re saying the power will be out for 5-7 days. That’s the entire population of Vermont and Guam.

 

Yeah it's fucked. Power companies say they're 'too big to fail' so they can get away with doing this, which is unfortunately probably true.

 

I mean PGE already filed for bankruptcy it can’t get worse haha

Gas is cheap out there though

 

I've yet to ever run out of gas in any vehicle I've driven or owned. I don't know why that makes me happy, it's a stupid thing to take pride in, but I'll take my kicks where I can get'em

 

I realize this isn't the sports thread but I'm so excited for the Nats win over the Dodgers last night! I was originally a Montreal Expos fan and the franchise was moved to DC, unfortunately, one of the filthiest places in the world let alone the country. But the Nats have made playoffs and gotten knocked out of playoffs by Dodgers like last 3 playoffs we've been in. Got old. And Dodgers had it last night again. And then we got lucky with a grand slam in the 10th inning. What a game! And we advance in the playoffs, oh what a feeling! No offense at all towards Dodgers and their fans. They're contenders every year.

i know some people that actually do that, get the morning coffee and top off tank

i have run out of fuel 3 times, (not in my Tacoma though)
once in my Celica in the middle of nowhere I80 in Iowa
once in company S10 in the middle of nowhere southern Indiana
once in same company S10 somewhere else in Iowa
all back in the 1990s
those vehicles were not equipped with low fuel light warning

 

Yeah I fill up at 1/4 tank and have never run out
