im thinking about it for the possible AWD transfer case swap. the tundra axles are CV on both ends. not the tulip on the inside side.

Here’s my master spreadsheet of new OEM parts I had to buy. Some might not apply to you.

The transfer case snap ring is important. It bends easily.

 

That's an odd design difference, the tulips aren't as dimensionally consistent as a CV so they wobble less but they're a lot stronger. Maybe the tundra had vibe issues with long heavy axles.

 

good thing i was under my truck for about 7 hours today
found damage to the backside of the rockers on passenger side
it looks recent anyways

 

possible. but the angle they can run at is pretty impressive. i have one aftermarket in the tundra because i couldnt find a reman for it locally. you can feel the bind in it compared to the other

 

That's typically a complaint of the aftermarket taco axles too, the CV side binds earlier than an OEM one

 

oh i know. i have the old axle still. just need the inner piece since mine was damaged beyond saving. if i can get the inner piece i can reboot and rock OEM again
