I need to change out my PS fluid and wash the screen, she's starting to make ghost noises when I crank the wheel. Kind of appropriate for the season though I guess

Can you clean the screen without removing the reservoir or no?

I don't think you could do much to clean it without pulling the reservoir off

I read somewhere on here someone cleaned it with a small attachment on their shop vac and sucked the dirt/grime off. Didn't know if that was a risky way to be doing it though, don't want to damage the screen. I'll likely just take it off since that seems to be the best way.

I did change out the fluid about 2 years ago but I didn't clean the screen that time, probably why it's whining again now.

you could try taping a turkey baster to the shop vac and doing that

Those aren't sold anymore. Someone was selling a kit over the summer on here. Went for about that if I remember correctly.

you slowly work up to everything needing attention of some kind, then you ignore the stuff that isn't important or catastrophic

I wanted a new reservoir and screen last summer when I did the engine job. So I bought a cheap China pump and only used the reservoir and screen. It works. Ha!

When I replaced my pump I took the reservoir off and sprayed a bunch of brake cleaner through it. I also used a shop vac on the cap side afterwards. As far as I could see there was nothing on the screen afterwards.

The new pump still whines a bit, especially at full lock or under heavy load like on the trail which makes me nervous but so it goes; I have a big cooler and inline filter and run synthetic fluid so I've done all I can at this point

I probably should get a new reservoir TBH, mine is constantly "wet" with PS moisture presumably...weirdly though the level never gets low

America's Tire is a good place to shop tires from, they'll usually price match any legit competitor.

I also get their tire warranty too, it's like $30 a tire and they'll replace it no questions asked if you blow one out and it's not repairable. Used it once already for an STMaxx that blew out and on my previous cars I used it a couple times.

Well he caught me on one price match (wrong tire size) but turned the cheek on this one.
I totally agree with you I always go to them. price match and get their warranty. It's hard to beat
