You’d swap a ford transmission in?

Trash engine. Water pump is inside the engine. When it fails it washes your bearings out with coolant or fails completely and you bend valves

4.0 doesnt have they shitty water pump design. other than the water pump the ford 3.5 would be a great engine

    toyota 4.0 timing chain setup
[IMG]center pulley is just an idler and its got a massive bearing
    Ford 3.5 timing chain setup
    [IMG]
damn near identical setup, but with terrible water pump placement. center pulley sits on a much smaller bearing so over time with chain tension it wears and creates shaft play allowing coolant to pass by into the oil, so much play can occur that it'll jump time

the 4.0 is fine.. to get rid of the water pump in a ford 3.5 you'd need some pretty good custom work going on. its critical to timing chain tension and control

still surprised how much the ford 3.5 matches the toyota 4.0.... its like they straight up copied it but changed the cooling system to call it their own.

only difference is one works, the other is spoty.

Speaking of kidnapping, we have a van just like yours parked down on the end of our street for street last few weeks. But its windows are covered over and have hand painted lettering for Handyman services. Gets sketchier by the day.
