Yeah I was about to say. My 1st gen has a tighter wheel then the 08. I dont get why people complain about our steering wheels so much.

 

I would let him drive mine for a comparison. I've got it handling damn nice for a truck.

 

I always thought the first gen handled pretty nice, the stock front end is actually really good it's just the weak ass springs in the back that make it a bit of a wet noodle.

 

I should said D3.. The larger one.

 

ah yes. its a tighter fit. but the extra filter area is worth it.

 

The AALs made it handle and ride better. I've learned that tightening up the rear helps with cornering.

 

the ass end of my tundra needs to be stiffened up. might run a AAL for now. but she gets squirrely when accelerating hard. 1st gen tundras and 1st gen tacos feel damn near identical. just one has more power and is much larger..

 

The filter is in a terrible place compared to the 4 banger. I'm just going to relocate it, then I can run the massive 51515 filter from WIX

 

I put in a shim with AALs like @Blue92. I'll be damned if it didn't smooth out some of the drive train vibes. Somehow I think I just hit the right combination.

 

im so use to it it doesnt bother me.. once i have the engine on the frame im going to figure a way to reroute it to the samish spot as the tundra.. should be easy enough without the body in the way

 

a wedge shim to change the driveline angle? ive got no vibes. just a soft rear.

 

You already have a good oil cooler, install an oil temp gauge I promise you it never exceeds 180. Most good air to oil coolers have a 160° thermostat... Not worth the money to cool the oil below median engine temp. If you didn't already have a good cooler if say go for it.

 

no need for an oil cooler. the OEM one works very well.. you dont want to overcool oil. same for trans fluid. they both like to be around 180

hmm im going to wait till next year to fuck with the rear of the truck. need to straighten out the leaf pack too. they've splayed from the accident

 

I think I've dropped that tip to absolutely everyone. It's really where the pinion should be stock but the truck sit so flat drivetrain wise that Toyota rotated them down stock.

 

i install plenty of wedges at work for 2nd gens with vibes. never needed them on my own trucks though
