Yeah most of the bumpers Ive looked at for our trucks list a 10k winch max, the All Pro one included. I'll likely get a 9.5k one

Just double the weight of your truck and buy one based off that

I've done a mod or two
He will be fine with a 9.5k. If things get hairy a snatchblock can be used to double the pulling power

agree. sticking out a bit does look better. having the flares off for a bit gave it that look. Liked it just not the no flares. I remember reading something about bringing it closer to scrubbing though. Oh well.

Did you offer to help resolve the issue? :headbang:

I've had that happen a couple of times. Damn near want to get off and take another flight. Not cool at all.

If I were to drop the coin on a winch, yeah - warn, especially with the ARB.

    Second choice would be:

    https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/smitt...winch-gen2-with-fairlead-98510/_/R-DSBP-98510

It was at 382 something just before Thanksgiving. When I saw the post in the deals thread, tried adding it to the cart and it kept changing the price to full.

Rent? Shit buy the harbor freight 2 prong puller. Cheap and works. As far as the castle nut threaded back on? That is a first. Only need to do that if you are hammering at it to protect the threads. A puller and an impact are your friends for this job. Simple, and easy with the right tools. Be sure to torque the lbj bolts to 59 ftlbs with or without blue locktite.

TIL. The first gen had a dealer installed option for a LSD. I've been telling people our trucks never had one.

There wasnt a factory LSD available until the 2nd gens. Someone at that dealer probably thinks an LSD and locker are the same thing, or it had an aftermarket LSD installed

I just went through some threads and a few users spoke of a dealer installed one. This page talks about it too (wtf is going on with that website)

Huh maybe it was a special thing you could order before the TRD package was a thing, like how you could order your truck with a locker if you wanted though it wasn't common until TRD packages came about.

Oh I agree. Buy if you can afford it. I wanted an assortment and quality so went with the OTC 6295 kit.

The castle nut being left on does work and not just when hammering which I would never do (why beat the hell out of your components with a BFH?) - again, whatever works best for the individual. Definitely blue threadlocker and a paint pen to mark for visual reference. All personal preference. Cheers.

I bought this one. Only used it once so far, but quality is okay for the price.
