Wouldn't be the first time I've done things the hard way lol. But I did try it that way the second go around with my Dakars and I had a much harder time getting the axle I place than I did getting the main eye to line up, but there are so many variables that it's hard to look back and know for sure why that might have been.

@BartMaster1234 you converted a 2wd to 4x4 by yourself, you won't have any trouble putting in leaf springs I guarantee you that.

I have a bottle jack under the leaf and a floor jack on the axel and its a dance between the two and boom lined up.

Took me like a hour to figure that out then after it took like 5 mins

True with anything on a vehicle. I'd never done an AAL before when I did mine, first side took an hour and a half, second took ten minutes

Long side to the rear! Grease the outside of the bushings too before you press them in, main eye and shackle side! Also grease the bushings for the shackles that are in the frame! Squeaky leafs will drive you nutzzz! No amount of spray grease will ever correct it. Also, axle shims? Those puppies look like your gonna get a good amount of lift. And probably some vibes to go with it.

For some reason, the passenger side was the most difficult for me - both the front hangar and the shackle side fought me big time lining them up. PITA! Driver side, was cake.

Yeah one of the hardest things for me the first couple times was not having extended brake line...couldn't drop the axle as far down as I needed to without over extending the stock one. Having an extended line in for the All Pros was much easier.

I still wish someone had put together a damn video for the AAL install for the Dakars. Cant find anything on it anywhere. Sure, once I get it apart I'll figure it out but it would make it a lot easier to have something to review. Why in the hell can't they send any documentation? Simple sheet showing where in the pack the AAL goes would be enough.

Yes, having an extended line when I put my AAL'S in made it go by so much easier. Torqueing the main eye bolt on the drivers side next to the gas tank is still my favorite part though. 119 foot pounds with a short torque wrench isn't fun.

Driver side sucked for me because the gas tank is so close to the main eye bolt.

See that didn't give me any issues - was worried about that too after seeing so many posts about the bolt being so close. Then again, I didn't even use any pbblaster. damn thing came off without any issue. There was enough clearance so have no idea. Maybe the 02 has extra room - lol

I remember thinking the same thing lol. Looked all over YouTube but couldn't find one
But it's super easy, once you get them apart on saw horses you'll see theres only one place to put the AAL in to where it doesn't look wrong/out of place. Use a punch through the center of the leaves to keep them in place for when you go to put the center pin back in.

My air cat would strip that in a heart beat. 600 foot pounds of torque. My ocd wouldnt let me not use a torque wrench.
