I don't think Toyota had much of a budget for illustrators back in the day

Ok, so this is where I'm at - it is either

    42611-35161

    or @se7enine's 42611-35220

Leaning toward 42611-35220 simply due to the "Chrome Package" mention.

The problem with "rare" stuff like this is it's a pain to replace when needed.

@Area51Runner @cruiserguy @01x4 since you guys are good wheel detectives...got any idea what mine are? I've had this truck for 3.5 years now and haven't been able to figure out what brand these wheels are that the PO put on. Just curious mainly, I like them so I don't plan on changing them. They were originally a lighter grey

Closest I found once was one by American Racing but it wasn't quite the same. Also Pro Comp I think makes a very similar looking one

Next time you have the wheel off the truck, pour over it for any markings which can help to ID it. Also, measure the backspace. ;)

yeah the tubing for the stock air box as far as I know is the same between the two...the difference would be how the snorkel itself molds/follows the body lines of the fender. That's my guess anyway, seeing as how the fenders between 1st gen Tacos and 3rd gen T4Rs aren't interchangeable. I'm sure you could run either snorkel on the other and it would look 'good enough', or not if you're picky about it fitting the body just right. Should connect to the air box just fine though

I think they look cool, it's different in a good way IMO. Although without the opening of the intake facing forward I wonder if they don't have the same belief that ARB does in that the air ram effect at ~40+ mph is only effective when the head is pointing forward. There's an article on it somewhere that ARB has that describes it better than I can. Basically says when it's not forward facing at that speed it's not prone to drawing in as much air as it should. I'll see if I can find it

without a head on it at all I imagine thats because otherwise rain/water would go right into it and to the air filter. The traditional snorkel heads have little vents around the bottom of the head that push most of the water out before it goes down the snorkel to the air filter. I rarely find any trace of water in my air box even when it's pouring rain and I'm on the freeway.

I'm not sure about the one you are looking at (stainless one) but as far as the cheap fleabay one and the ARB, I wouldn't turn it around. I've been in some pretty heavy rain a couple of times for extended driving and no water at all in the box. I'm not worried about it.
