My stock intake runs about 2-5°F over ambient air temp rolling down the road. Sitting still or crawling for a long time it goes up to about 8-10°F... That's when it is 80-90°F outside. The difference is bigger in the winter but I haven't watched it close enough to give any valid numbers.

Yea, I'll probably should test it at the highest temp outside cause that'll be the hardest for cooler air.

A coworker came up to me and asked if we have chemicals that can help with the california wild fire. There is a couple but there not good for the environment so I guess it's definitely "help" lol.

From what I remember... while stuck in traffic for about an hour and it was -4°F, windchill in the -teens, my intake was still reading 14°ish so that is ~18° increase.

From my experience, All else equal higher ambient temp means higher temp but a lower increase
Driving <20mph the temps can clime a bit but typically only 1-2°
Sunny days the intake is higher but really only at startup (can take up to 30 minutes for the temp to stabilize on a really hot sunny day)
Rain/snow brings the temp down a bit

For reference my coolant runs at 204-210° once warmed up. If I work it really hard it will get up to 212°. Warmer than I'd like but Toyota says it's fine so whatever...

Better data? Maybe, but not necessarily "good" data.

It depends on the variance of the data as to how many samples you'll need to be statistically significant. A high standard deviation means you need more samples.

You'll also want to calibrate your temp sensors against a known standard, and take multiple measurements as quickly as possible to get an idea of measurement and sampling errors. Probably good to do a regression analysis of the time/temp as well to look for variances.

Best to do it in controlled conditions. If you have an atmospherically controlled chamber, that would, of course, be ideal. But as long as you take multiple measurements of temp, barometric pressure, sun angle, etc... you could reasonably correct for those changes.

I'd be happy to review your documents once you prepare a manuscript.

Nothing grinds my gears more than when I read the label on a package that talks about how it is chemical free or whatever.

I'm a pretty socially liberal guy, but jesus christ those goddamn hippies with their "ermagerd chemicalz and toxins" fear mongering bullshit just really gets to me.

Humans are nothing more than a big bag of talking chemicals.

Water is a toxin, given the correct dose.

Fixed it for you lol. Also if you think about everything is a chemical no matter how stupid it sounds.

Yes, we are pretty useless... We make good fertilizer when we die, though...

Not everything natural is good (arsenic), not everything chemical is bad (water, food, everything).

My favorite is when hippies are told that being "organic" doesn't mean they don't use pesticides.
