now that, I need to research. Those spindles I picked up, I think the bearings are going to be replaced. Something just isn't right with them. The side that has movement in the outer part of the bearing has intermittent noise when turning the hub. Other side which has no movement turns fine. Just going to replace them both.

What I'm thinking though - instead of just ordering bearings and then paying to have a shop deal with it, better to just replace the hubs and bearings as a complete assembly. Bolt on, right? If I go with manual hubs, going to have to replace them anyway.

or perhaps be cheaper to just offload these and keep an eye out for manual hub spindles. have to research prices. then there is always the knockoff koyo possibility.

bolt on? no. second gens are.
get just the bearings and the seals and a new snap ring. oh and the collar... the hub can be reused.

if you really want to go with manual hubs then offloading what you have probably wont be tooo hard. (id buy them if it werent for that horrible thing we call shipping cost, Im always on the hunt for clean parts)

Yep, they are clean and with the ABS sensors/wires intact should help as well. Its just that one questionable bearing and like you pointed out - definitely not OE with the orange paint marks. I cleaned them up a bit more this morning. Will hold on to them for now just to keep the options open. shipping... ouch. just come out here to pick up mig's frame, I'll give them to you with cash on top and you can knock out the VCGs and TB. lol.

no no no timing belt. Never attempted it. While I have time still, might as well with the VCGs being done. Haven't done those before either. Sure, I've got the hardcopy FSM, about a gazillion vids and the LT crew for support but still. Not looking forward to removing the damn ARB to get the grille off in order to get the radiator out to do the timing belt. Since that is coming out, might as well install the Hayden trans cooler. I mean hell, the list is getting longer and longer. sucks.

but you have it suspended above you on a lift, a bit easier, right?

I was talking about this with @Kwikvette the other day. might as well do the timing belt if its coming up soon since you'll have to take that damn bumper (and in his case, winch) off to get to it. lol.

doesn't matter in the end. with all the crap on the to-do list, hell - I need a long 24 hr MOD DAY with a bunch of people wrenching to get this done.

na i do my belts at home. no rack. i just take the skid plate off, Pull the valve cores out of the tires to lower the front of the truck since im short and knock it out in a few hours.

i do tylers favorite 3.0/3.3 FWD timing belts at home too.
