Habit. I never use the display screen either but I was never taught to use one because they didn't exist widely until ~5 years ago.

A lot of older photogs believe too that you train yourself to see and capture better composition through the view finder rather than using the digital display screen. Might just be older mindsets not adapting to new tech but I think there's some truth to that.

I had a professor in school several years ago for one of my photo classes that would only allow students to use digital cameras if they put gaff tape over the digital display. His argument/belief was that the ability to instantly see what you just shot was watering down the skill and artistry involved with taking good photos and instead letting people rely on luck and 'do overs'.

I will say though I think it would've took a hell of a lot more grit to be a pro photog back in the days of film than it does now...at least as far as technique and skills goes. Nowadays the hardest part is competing with the fact that literally everyone is a photographer now with how accessible digital has made it and the industry is saturated with competition.

Big part of the reason I gave up on freelancing after 5 or 6 years...you have to hustle 24/7 for jobs that pay like crap 95% of the time anyway.

Yeah one of the photogs I assisted for about 5 years was Charles Bush (father of actress Sophia Bush funny enough)...he was big in the 80s and 90s as a celebrity and advertising photog. Retired about 4 years ago. But he would always tell me how lucky I was on one hand to not have to work with film but on the other hand, back in those days if you took the time to master the craft you would be all but guaranteed a huge success. These days, not so much.

It has the exposure readings displayed in it usually but no, it doesn't preview the image exposure

Well, I have a Sunday off. Instead of getting this stuff done, I end up doing some yard work since the f-ing gardener has decided to not show up for 3 weeks and his phone's vm box is full. o_O

I don't watch sports ball or advanced kickball, I was out looking at the snow covered winter wheat fields and whipping the truck around snow corners.
