Yeah, I read that also. Now please explain to me why the transmission makes a difference. Look at the two images I just added. I just want to understand why a manual trans would be different from an auto where a radiator hose is concerned.

There were two slightly different radiators used. And each one got their own 'exact-fit' lower radiator hose. Might be interchangeable, but no need to speculate that if the corresponding one is still available

The auto trans radiator is different because of the built in transmission cooler.

Manual trans radiator has no cooler

and that is why im questioning it. When I ordered replacement hoses last year from Gunny, he gave me the 040 part# for the lower. When I search using my VIN that matches - 040 part number. However, the hose did not match the original I had on the vehicle. It did not have that tapered end. Coincidence this is the one that is giving me trouble? just want to understand the exact difference (if that is even possible) before replacing it again.

Oh I was comparing the two that are in same picture. I see now. Yeah they look identical. If the parts aren't mislabeled, than I'd say they're interchangeable

No coincidences.... Haven't you seen butterfly effect??? Lol just messing with you. Good eye though if you noticed the hose OD was slightly smaller, if so then the clamp wouldn't apply the correct tension. Good thinking man.

Just trying to be sure before I replace this fing hose AGAIN. Maybe I'll order the 030 one and just compare them side by side.

So here's another question - which end is front and which end is engine side? I believe white paint mark is on radiator side, yellow is engine side... can someone verify for me when convenient?

Thanks @Wulf and @cruiserguy - appreciate the input.

@BartMaster1234 - FYI in case you need to pick up parts same day and didn't already know

Fremont Toyota had the lower radiator hose I need @ 32.25 on their parts website. When I called their Parts Counter they quoted me @ 45.00. I asked if I could order and pay online but pick up, answer... yeah sure, of course. So if they have it in stock, order online and go pickup if you need it immediately vs. mcgeorge or toyotapartsdeal.

Same thing with Pearcey. Hayward doesn't have a parts site to check so they can :jerkoff:
