My brother-in-law has been pestering me to fix my dam bumper for at least 5 years. Is it really that easy? I've never had the valence off.

I just remember that was some hard shit to remove. I figured since it was so hard to remove, and it wasn't leaking at 228,000 miles, that I would use it again.

It was; I used a plastic putty knife to cut into the thick portions while using brake cleaner and a scotch pad to finish it off nice and smooth.

I went with a gasket made for our transmissions vs the FIPG tube stuff.

At least @Area51Runner can do it the right way the first time around unlike me....

16" wheels, so it's a 98 or 99. Uh oh, look out all that old stored up LC info must be coming back to me:cool:
You already read up on the hydraulic system for selectable ride height stuff(factory lift/lower system:D)?

Mine's not factory. And it's still leaking a little. Looks like from the front and where the actuator mounts.

They're designed to pull and be supported at their outer ends. Still just thick wall tube rammed and rosette welded into a piece of cast iron. A good smack loads em wrong and they crumple pretty easy for their bulk.

Oh yeah, that looks way overdone.

Here was the leak I spotted before opening it all up; no gasket maker seeping out at all -

I just think of the GM 14 bolt I had under my old 78 Chevy stepside that I beat the shit out off wheeling in rocks and such. Even made a skid plate for the diff and plated the stock diff cover in 1/4" plate.

the corporate 14-bolt is a lighter duty 1 ton than these heavy Dana axles were talking about. That kind of plays to their advantage. Section is way way way beefy for how small the axle is in comparison too.

I’m trying to figure out how the rotors fit.. they’re physically shallower

This was a fun truck. 454, SM465, NP205, GM14 bolt in the rear with a Detroit, Dana 60 front with a lunch box locker. Worked great.

That's nice and everything. but the tundra breaks already feel like ass with any of the master cylinder options available to 1st Gen Tacomas. We need a master cylinder that's viable for these big brakes for this to be really helpful

I feel like a new master cylinder would be a must if you slapped those on a 1st gen.
