I was lucky to get 99% of the parts I ordered.

Only the front diff fill plug was incorrect; they sent me one from a land cruiser or something.

Timmah video will answer all questions you have about the water pump and will have a visual for what you're looking at and then an explanation of it.
Are you doing the water pump and timing belt replacement yourself?

I've met some pretty cool ppl from here and from my gun forums; the Corvette people are the only crowd I don't fit in with.

I've owned many of them, but I'm far from a mid life crisis. I remember one argument on calguns where I was talking about reloading, and one guy was arguing facts with me. Resorted to calling me some old white dude that probably drives a yellow corvette chasing girls in their 20s

It's a pretty involved job to do. The video shows very well the tools you'll need to have and the parts to have.
If you're not doing it yourself, I'd still recommend watching it for the knowledge and to be able to understand anything the shop may want to discuss so you don't have to just trust what they say. Knowledge is power, knowledge with experience is KING :D

That's it? I'd consider myself mildly competent and I have been putting it off because I am lazy

    Lol no offense taken

What's funny is, my dad didn't fit the "typical Corvette owner" description either. I only got into them since my dad always had one when I was growing up.
