well those too. it was the funky placement of the bedside decals. I laugh about it. especially when they try to toss them up at the top of the bed along the rail in an effort to match with current years

I’m sinning. So why not go all the way. It’s not a legit trd package (but it does have the LSD the trd tundras had) just lacked the suspension really

I just saw a set of new take off Tundra 18" steelies for sale on CL for $100. Hmmmm. What size tires are you running?

Those are the wheels currently under her, that came with the new Michelin LTXs. They are a 255/65R18, I think? I'll take a peek when I go out. But the powder coated steelies.are the round hole traditional type looking steelies. They're heavy I think, if I memba

Do you think I should go look at them? I would be powder coating them a gunmetal gray. The chromes on mine right now are starting to flake off. I plan to replace them someday. I learned my lesson the Tacoma about jumping out and buying wheels and tires too early in the process.

The only reason I like 16" rims is it has a set of 16/285r16 Nitto Terra Grappler on there now. I may not need to deflate much with 16" and big balloon tires on the trails.
Still trying to figure all the out.

I really like this type of steel wheel. I may hold out until I can find some.

@cruiserguy I'm loving this 4.7L Toyota engine. I starting to figuring out that I have a big VQ30 named 2UZFE on my hands here.

I've got a bag of Nissan tricks and learning from over the years that directly applicable to that engine. I love this post.

Bolts on a 2UZFE have a shoulder on the bottom the bolt above the thread, so they can't truly be "overtightened". They are designed to "bottom out" and then torqued in with very little torque to secure them in place. That is just like a VQ30 and very different from a 5VZFE.

Here's a trick. If you want to add lets say 1.5 mm of additional torque down "bite" to the valve cover bolts, just add a 1.5mm thick stainless flat washer between the bolt head and the rubber VC bolt gasket metal top. The bolts are torqued in inch pounds. Though once the bolt hits bottom, its all over.

Those are the steelies I waited for! And I found em powder coated black for sale from a Tundra. If I was to buy wheels, I'd pay for the cool steelies but I'd only take the common steelies if they came with the tires, type of thing. Those steelies are pretty darn common. How can we get you these cool powder coated steelies? Black would be perfect to accent the black bumpers and rock sliders too. And then a sweet dark second tone below. Your LX is gonna look good man.
