Actually, the unit that I have has a programmable tilt. When off, it is flat, when it turns on, it tilts to the desired angle. I didn't figure that out for a few weeks, and it was not ideal when it was flat. Now, however, I love it; no issues at all.

Ok. I will have to keep that in mind when I buy a double-din. I haven't bought the truck yet but I want to get everything ready for it. :D

Bump and thread revival for same question...

I am thinking about doing some audio work with my tax rebate/Amazon gift card balance, so I'd like to do this same thing... Trying to figure out how to make it all work.

subbed. Im hopefully picking up an 02 extended cab this weekend, and adding some decent bass (decent, not overly obnoxious) is one of my top prioritys on the goodie list. I can't afford to lose the seats or cab space, so I like the under seat options ive seen floating around these forums!

Did you do this for the driver side too? I have a similar setup, just WAY more simple and ALOT more redneck lookin'. I like this better, but if I can't do the driver side like this too, i'll stay the way I am.

Not too bad. A little fabrication involved. Just did this. Spent a few hours of my Sunday. Wanted to keep it hidden but functional.A7539C64-A368-43B9-98B3-F45E8268F992.jpg

Used some matching vinyl to cover. Kept the frame and cover to return to stock if needed. I swapped the seat hinges right to left and flipped the seat upside down to gain 1/2” clearance for the speaker grill.
I think it turned out well.

Slight trimming of the metal under to fit a 10” JL Audio.

Amp is mounted under the seat. I didn’t want to cut air flow for cooling. The other cubby is still for storage.

@tobysan1966 When you say: "I swapped the seat hinges right to left and flipped the seat upside down to gain 1/2” clearance for the speaker grill" - could you explain this a little more? I installed a fabricated a wood plate and installed sub in the cubby as well and top mounted it like you did, and didn't have to cut any sheet metal underneath. However, I'm having clearance issues with the seat folding down on top of the speaker. So, to do that to the hinges, do you have to pull off the big plastic trim piece covering the cab to go to that hardware to remove it? When you did that, I can see how it would give you more clearance for sure, but did the seat still fold down like it is supposed to? Seems like it would not latch in place like it needs to if the are flipped upside down. Also, I'm having rattling issues with the seat and the bass, does yours rattle with the extra clearance? I appreciate any help you can give me with this. Thanks!
