Yeah, it works fine, you just have to turn your lights on all the time. For '98's the headlights are the running lights, so I'll tap into that eventually.

no u gotta buy the ballasts and wireing and everything for a true HID, they make a look a like bulb that makes the head lights look like hids but they r not true hid with a ballast and a hid bulb. And hids in a stock housing look like shit and they blind on coming traffic. if you wanna do it right do a full retro fit like conman did. yea its expensive but its worth it not blinding on coming traffic

oops, edit, you need wiring and ballasts and stuff like 04trd said, it just has a terrible beam pattern, and can be very annoying to other drivers.

    Reflector pattern

    Projector beam pattern

The beam pattern wont necessarily be that bad, but it can be.

you could wire them right through a switch to the battery, as long as you had a fuse

yep don't HID. as previously stated it's illegal and doesn't look anywhere near as good as a retro.. not to mention your light output won't be as good as a retro either. IMO more of a thing to do for looks more than for performance.

anyways, here's my retro. porsche projectors with zkw lenses.

here's ya a link. i personally would go with the 4300k bulb. it'll have the the pure white look, same with all the bmw's and all the other high end cars. they all use 4300k bulbs.

don't let the price care you away. you can ask any of the guys that have done a retro, i'm sure every one will tell you it's easily one of the best things you can do to your truck.

Only issue still to be resolved is getting my offroad lights to activate again with my high beams, they worked well before the retrofit, but not after, will mess with it again when the weather warms up.
