Im at 7100 miles but my truck was delivered to a different dealer 5 months before and now the oil is a year old. So I'm screwing up the whole Toyotacare plan but the service adv. and I made a new plan. They just did the oil and control arm plugs @7k At 10k, the tires and check a cold trans for fluid level. Then at 15k will be tires and oil and at 20k just tires and then I'm on my own.

    Ok.

But I'd have had the trans done now.

If it's low, you want it fixed sooner, not later. Why would you risk another 3k with a low level?

I don't think you are really screwing anything up. You basically get two oil changes with Toyota Care on a Tacoma. I don't think they care when you do them. I just couldn't make myself go 10k miles on the first oil, So I went in at 5k and the dealer asked if I wanted this as part of my Toyota care or if I wanted to pay.

Its based off of time or miles. Just yesterday I took our Rav4 in for the 24 month/20k service, she only had 12, 000 miles on it. There is a reason its based on either one, you didnt screw anything up.

Had any problems with the RAV4? Still deciding between the Mazda CX-5 or the RAV4 when the warranty on this truck runs out in NOV 2018. Or I may keep this truck and have the shiny black paint Line-X'ed. Think it will be about the same money either way I go.

No real issues. Wife uses it to run son to karate classes, go to the gym, and we have made a trip from shreveport to Dallas and back, and several trips back and forth 1 hour each way taking our daughter to college
(parking is terrible on campus so she has a bike there but when she needs to come home we have to get her). The one minor problem we had was the seat trim on the bottom driver seat broke, but they ordered a new part and are replacing that under warranty. She got the Hot Lava and it seems like the paint is fairly thin, a few rock chips, but I got a touch up pen from the dealer for that.

Lower Control Arms have holes in them, under side. Crawl under the front of your truck and look at the LCA you will see the small holes. When driving on windy days sometimes between 35 to 45mph it will cause a howling noise that sounds like someone blowing over the top of an empty bottle. Toyota finally released a TSB to fix this and the fix is to plug the holes with small plastic plugs. You can buy the same thing essentially at most hardware stores

That is the minimum required maintenance, you can always do the maintenance sooner or more often based on use.
During winter I drive lots of short trips and change my oil after 4 months only 2000-3000 miles.
I'm sure the 3.5 runs a lot cleaner than the 4.0, but do maintenance based on use not miles.

All fluid levels should be ck asap.

Remember that some vehicles are made and sit on the lot for a year or more , I highly doubt the oil is changed when it is a year since the build date. I would really be shocked if a dealer said this truck or car is 9 months old and you must change the oil in 3 months etc. !

Changed mine at 1000, will change again everytime it hits the 5k mark.....5k, 10k, 15k, 20k ,etc....it was just 2 years ago that the "toyota engineers" said change it at 5k OCIs for the 2TR-FE 4 cylinder...., 2 years later, they deemed its good for 10k oci's now that we have "Toyota care free maintenance ":jerkoff:

....not my truck, its 5k or sooner...."toyota care":jerkoff: won't be seeing my truck unless its for warranty work.

Zerk's checked for grease - (service guy said "I don't think those trucks have them"
Lower control arms TSB fix by placing plastic caps in holes to stop "whistle sound"
