When I'm on the highway or interstate my motor will cut out for a second. Its like its not getting fire to the plugs or its not getting fuel. It doesn't do it all the time just every now and then. What could be the problem? I have 136,000 miles on my 97 Tacoma.

It does it when I'm doing 45 to 65. The truck is in good shape but the spark plug wires are 3 years old and the plugs need to be changed too. That project is for next weekend. It doesn't matter if its hot or cold it still does it.

    getting there....
sounds to me like maybe a spark plug wire(s) is breaking down or distributor cap/rotor button may be the culprit.

let us know what happens when you change your plugs/wires.

    This might sounds nuts, but......

I had a Mercury Lynx RS as my first car. It was used when I bought it and worked great for the first couple of years. Then is started doing what yours does. We went round and round with it. It turned out to be a BAD BATTERY! Apparently, there was a bad connection inside the battery that would either short out or open up, not sure which. The battery would hold enough charge to start the little 4 banger while it was cold, but it was the alternator that would make the vehicle go once it started. I think the heat of the motor would cause the problem in the battery to appear. I put a new battery in it and the problem went away.

I doubt that is your trouble, but thought it might be interesting anyway.

98+ frontend swap with clear headlights, tint, 6" fabtech, 15x12 powdercoated alloys, 35x15.50 SX's, 5.29 yukon gears, 1.5" wheel spacers, k&n filter. paint and line-x to come.
Definately sounds like your Throttle Psitioning sensor. My 97 did the same around that mileage. Did a tune up, still didn't fix it. Took it to a buddy of mines shop. its a resistance thing on the sensor, that's why you're prob not getting a check engine code. good luck.

yeh check your spark plugs to see if they are loose or if the wires are loose around there. or just check the spark plugs themselves. i just checked mine and changed them to some E3's because my old spark plugs were rustly loose and worn :[
