Agreed. Mine was not in stock at my dealer. They had to buy it from another one. I have manual with convenience and white was not my first choice - it does look a bit commercial. I was not, however, prepared to pay into the upper $30s for one of the other ones, especially since almost all of those were automatic double cabs anyway. As time goes along, I'll just do some of the mods that will make it look a little nicer (I bought some factory alloys on here at a great price) and a little less commercial.

One thing I noticed is I am helped pretty fast in line at Dunkin Donuts because around here the people that work there are really superfast with people out in 4WD trucks...(like on days like today where there is a flash flood warning and river flood alert) - they assume you are working. :)

I just bought a 2006 Tacoma Access Cab 4 banger. It is the paint shop now due to the clear coat coming off so they are fixing that. I can't wait to get it out and really see what it can do. From reading this thread I think I did a great choice by getting a 4banger. I am new to TW but I have found it really informative already. Here is a pic of her just before she went in the paint shop.

Yeah same here. I went to our biggest local dealership (they stock roughly 1800 cars on their lot) and told the salesman "I want a black, access cab, 4wd, Sr5, 5 speed, 4 cyl. If you don't have it, I'm not interested". He looked crazy at me and said " I've been working here for 8 years now selling tacomas and have never sold that truck". So after about 2 hours of lot searching, computer searching, and other dealership searching we literally stopped at every black access cab truck to check it out and found that exact truck on one of their " back" lots that the cars that never sell go to. The truck was even listed wrong as an auto in their computer. Haha he said it was the first one that their dealership had sold since the model came out. So I just got really lucky and got a deal on it. Lol

No, they're not on the truck yet. I just got them yesterday. They're the TRD offroads. I'm trying to needle the tire shop into guaranteeing they can either get the factory TPMS to work, 'kit it', or disable it...see above where the guy can't stand the blinking exclamation point. :D

I also hate when shops say "yeah, we can do that" and then you wait all day for them to finish and they come out and say "yeah, we couldn't do that".

Actually, Tyetti's rims are like the ones I bought. Hopefully they'll bring the white truck up a little more upmarket. I'd like to maybe have had them painted (I kind of like the dark grey and graphite alloys coming out now) but I kind of want to see how they look first.

Those are some big-*** Christmas trees...!

I actually only ever considered Toyota for my first truck because of the BBC UK Top Gear series and what they did to that HiLux.

Yeah those tire sensors are crap. When I first got my truck I got new tires mounted and the shop fucked up every single one when putting them back in. They come with an o-ring gasket and if it doesnt seat right then it will tear and leak air. Of coarse this happened to me. They offered to pay to replace them but that seemed like wasted time for something I saw as pointless on the vehicle anyway. So then, like yall, I couldn't fuckin stand that light being on so I went ahead and changed out all my gauge cluster lights and just removed the TPMS light. Haha I kicked that problems ass

thats one of my favorite episodes along with the arctic trucks and the Bolivia special but seeing that hilux refuse to die made me want one so bad. If I had been able to wait the 3 months to import one I would have but I still love my tacoma :)

Oh and a word of advice:

Do not EVER, ever ever use Griot's HD wheel cleaner inside the house. It smells awful and you will get in trouble. LOL.

haha!! Exactly the impression I have driving my new-to-me 2012 AC. I've had it for a couple weeks now and I'm starting to get used to it.

Everything is pretty much stock at the moment. I should be doing a lot of small mods over the next few months to make it into a camping/hunting/fishing/exploration vehicle.

Previous vehicle was an F-150 SuperCrew with the 5.4L V8. It sure is a change! Both trucks are so different, it's even hard to compare. One thing I can say is that so far I really like how much more nimble and agile the Tacoma feels. I'm really looking forward to the first real trips to see how it will preform!

Those of you that went with different rims, what did you do about the tpms? Do you just live with the light on, or pony up and pay for new ones?
