I just bought a 95 with a header, cai and dual electric fan. I'm getting 25 mpg and there's no shortage of giddy up and it sounds good. I'm looking at buying another in a bit better shape and I would put these exact things on if I get another one.

Built for maximum low end torque, tooter II.VII intake manifold spacer, LCE long tube header, Injen long tube intake, 2,900 rpm torque peak.
I ran an LCE header on my '96 2.4 for a decade...

Just had the local perf muffler shop install my Doug Thorley TRI Y on my 2002 3RZ 4cylinder and I'm impressed with the perf gains and nice exh note

With the 4 cylinder already running a supercharger and CAI this header install woke it up even more

You're right. The 2.7 needs to be revved if you want more power. It's still no rocket by any means but I've noticed that once you get above 3000 rpm it does wake up and above 4000 there is even more. Mine very rarely sees past 3000 rpm though. I'm not going to hit the 300,000 mile club taking it past 3000 on a regular basis.

If i were to install headers but kept the catback stock, would i lose the supposed gains from the headers?

Just install a free flowing muffler and you'll be good

Is it typical to throw codes while running an aftermarket header? I told myself that days of modifying my DD to throw CELs were over.

I have the DTH and I love it really helps out when you are going up hill, It took me about 2 hours for install. I've had no problems it been on the truck for about 5 years now. plus you can pass smog with it installed.

My 2018 does not throw any codes, if I drive it easy it gets over 25 mpg, hold gears better on hills. It feels more like a good in line 6 cyl. than a 4cyl. I installed a Pedal Commander, because it was so slugish before the header, now I hardly ever use it! The truck runs probably close to 4400lbs with me and a full tank of gas and has plenty of giddy up. There is no way I would go back to stock!

there have been maybe a handful of TW members that ended up throwing codes after installing a header. However, consider that there are many variables in terms of who installed, whether it was installed properly, and condition of the vehicle. Sometimes crap just goes wrong and it's easy to blame the last thing you messed with. I think for the most part dudes don't have issues from what I have researched and it's usually something to do with the installation not being done properly (secondary air pump gasket, torquing bolts, gaskets, vacuum hoses, etc.)

Ive got the lce header on my 2007 2.7l. Installed it myself and had no codes 50k miles later no codes. Like what was already said somthing probably installed wrong or maybe a vacuum hose cane off? I never even threw a code when i had my crappy "cold" air intake installed.

Guys is this true? I’m always revving my 2.7 in etc mode above 3000, will this hurt the longevity of this engine? I thought they were bulletproof?

What I’ve heard is that while higher RPMs do technically cause some more wear, it’s a surprisingly minimal effect on its own. Simply because the oil does its job when that’s all the engine has to deal with. The thing that really makes a difference is when you have a combination of high load and high RPM, e.g. towing, frequent WOT, etc. The guy was talking about the resistance causing lateral forces in the cylinders. Seemed to make sense to me.

I'm a total newb so I'm learning as I go. I was under the impression that this motor could take on pedal to the metal usage and still last 300k miles. I guess I should stop driving like a dick.

No engine is bullet proof, if you constantly pound it and make it work hard youll cause more wear which ultinately shortens the life of the engine. But imo if you drive it hard change oil more often keep up with your maintenance most definately. Ive driven this truck like hell and am the first owner. Just about to hit 150k and shes still going lol. We will see. Im running this till it dies and then maybe swap another used engine in if i can find one because they dont make my regular cab anymore
