    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to get some intel on a base 4x4 access cab Tacoma, I have been looking into purchasing a 6in pro comp lift but this setup requires a 18inch wheel which I'd like to run a 18x10 or 18x12 for "looks"with that being said can the truck run 33x12.5 tires? I do understand the speedo will be off I want to make sure there won't be any mechanical issues with this setup. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

They'll turn like any normal tire.

I don't know about 12 wides, though.. unless you really want to cut things to shit.

Also if you're an automatic trans, turning that much weight with a 2.7 is gonna make you want to take a nap anytime you push the pedal down unless you're also buying new gears.

This'll help you decide what gearing you should do, if you chose to go that route.

2.7l auto with that set up will be almost unbearable on the highway. Any hills will kills it, hell even a stock 2.7l auto truck is struggling on the highway to maintain 70mph. My old 2004 2.7l with a 5 speed had its hands full
With 31x10.5x15 wore out Michelin ltx m/s

I just put 255/85r16's on stock gearing and it's liveable for sure. Im not sure on a 12.5" wide tire though

That's what I'm saying. I put 12.5" wide tires on my old Chevy with a 350 v8 and I went back to 285's because it robbed too much power. Also breaking is greatly effected.

I had a 87 22re pick up with 33's and it was slow but never had a problem but I know they don't make vehicles like they used to and I'm not to familiar with the 2.7l, if I can't run a bigger tire the lift just isn't worth it in my opinion but thanks everyone for the help

I have 285s on my 2.7 with auto transmission. I drove it on the stock 4.10 gears for a while and it wasn't too bad, but it's really nice with the 4.88 gears.

285's are a happy medium. Run around town/trail truck they'd be fine. But long highway trips regularly wouldn't be very good

I also have a 2014 Reg. Cab and this is exactly my set up too but still got the 4.10 in there for now. When I climb the Cajon Pass I just shift it into 3 and it handles the incline with no problems. Just don't be in a big hurry to get somewhere. lol

That's an oddball size. 265/70/17 you'll barely see a difference

    255/85 I think/16 is a skinny 33 again it'll be fine

285 70 17 or 285/75/16 if you have not other weight like armour it'll be OK ish

315/75r16 with an auto all the nopes

If you really want to regear and don't plan to ever go bigger than 33 do 4.56

I've been pulling 35's with 3.92's and manual 4x4, for a couple of months now. Head winds are a bitch.

I live in the hills, 3rd gear at 2,900 is 55mph. I keep up with traffic no problem, if there is a head wind I'm in 4th gear but even then at 70mph I'm at 2,600rpm. In town it is like driving a stock truck.

To be normal, you will have to regear. 4.88's are waiting in my garage.

I have a 4x4 2.7 5-speed. Running stock sized General Grabbers. It's half an hour to get to 70mph.
Not worth the headache and extra money of a 6" lift, 18" wheels, and 33" tires. To me.
I'll go with about 3" lift and no added brackets or UCAs, keep my sexy factory black wheels, and upsize to a 265/75 or 255/85 tire

Why will you have to run an 18" wheel?

Mine is auto. 275 tires. I went to 488 gears. No regrets at all. I even pull a 2800 pound RV with it.

4.88s and 35s are the perfect match with a 5spd
