I know I am going to get flamed for this, but here goes.
Why Billies? I know I want a 2 inch lift on the front, and 1 inch AAL in the back of my 18 sport, MT.
Seems like the majority of people on this site, love the Bilsteins, but I don't need an adjustable shock.
I am leaning towards 884's, and an AAL for what I do, but can't seem to find any recommendations for just a 2 inch longer shock...
    anyone?
    thanks in advance

Run the OME nitrochargers, designed specifically to work with the OME springs.

They're more expensive than running the Bilsteins set at zero with OME springs but it's another option.

Once you set the shock perch it's not like you're going to keep changing it for different conditions, just set and forget. The 5100s aren't like coil overs.

For 2 inches you'll need at least 885 springs, that's what I needed.

your running 885s? I was looking at 887's, but doesn't it change if you are having a lot of add ons on the front?

My lift details, not planning on a new bumper, winch or a shitload of underside armor..

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/dclb-with-885-springs-5100s-at-0-and-3-leaf-aal.502144/

I stayed 885 because I wanted to keep the factory rake and not need aftermarket UCAs for a decent alignment.

If you're going to add more stuff up front the recommend you run 886, it has a higher spring rate to compensate for more weight.

    You're welcome and good luck.

As for my lift I've been very pleased with the results after almost a year. Very decent daily driver with a little extra height.

You’ll need the 887s with the OME nitrochargers to get 2” up front.

I ordered the same kit with HS 3 leaf AAL pack for my 2” lift. Should be close to factory rake. I did not get new UCAs.

    They aren't an adjustable shock.

They just have a choice of slot to place the perch clips, preloading the spring to create lift if 0 is not your choice.

@jsinnard has the right idea. Lift with the right spring, dampen with the proper shock.

I will clarify. bilsteins give you lift height options. that makes it an adjustable shock to me...
my question still stands. Are there other options for shocks, after I lift my 18 AC with 887's? Don't get me wrong, Bilsteins are good shocks, I just want to know if there are cheaper options than paying for the height options on the Bilsteins.

Honestly, you can't get much cheaper than Bilsteins for a decent shock to do what you want to do. You can buy both front and rear 5100s on Amazon now for $360 with prime with free shipping.

How cheap do you need to be?

I was thinking about just using the bilsteins to lift the truck, with OME coils. Headstrong website doesn't recommend this setup with my truck, (18 AC, long bed). waiting for a reply. so now i'm looking for 887 prices also. don't want to fall into the drain, and end up spending 1000's of $$ on a truck that goes off road 1% of the time. Sand dunes on the cape..lol

Maybe you should talk to them directly instead of relying on the website information.

Only thing I see is they don't recommend 886 coils with the 5100s.

    Downloaded from the Headstrong website:

Where does it say you can't use 887's with Bilsteins on your extended cab.

on the actual headstrong site. it says you should not put the bilstein shocks on the 2" setting (5th notch) if you have an access cab 4x4

You put the bilstein on 0 and use the 887 spring to lift as intended which is perfectly acceptable on an access cab. Don't use the shocks to do the lifting it just makes for a harsh ride.

What you really don't want to do is preload aftermarket springs like raising the perch and add the 887 spring.

yup. like anything. I've got a guy who only used the 5100's and swears the ride is the exact same as stock, no issues with needle bearing. and other guys who only use the spring to lift and shock to dampen. without spending at least $500 and putting in just bilsteins, I just want to know what I need..lol

For the height you want use the springs to lift.

For the height you want (above 2 inches) you might need UCAs for a decent alignment.

You can start with just front bilsteins at the 3rd or fourth notch and see what you think. If you don't like it drop it to zero and add springs for $150 to get the height and ride you want.

Needle bearing can also go out on stock height just due to the inferior design.
