I'm thinking of installing a 2" leveling kit on my '03 Tacoma. Will I need new struts that are longer? I've read both yes and no. Any help is appreciated

There is no such thing as a "leveling" kit for our trucks, and our trucks use shocks not struts. Don't take this the wrong way, just educating you.

Especially when you attach a unit of measurement next to it, that means you're looking at a lift kit.

With that being said, there are different types of kits - the spacer/block kit which we all advise against, and suspension lift.

I looked up "Motofab" and see that they sell a spacer kit, which again, we advise against but if you did go that route, you don't need to change out your shocks.

Simply stepping up your budget a little more can net you Bilstein 5100's or the OME kit which both provide better ride quality, especially off road, and get you a real suspension lift.

Right. I kniw they're shocks but read that the coil over, and the shock 'hiusibg' makes the shock is considered a strut. I've always calledthem shocks in the past. Anyway, I thought of just buying the 2" spacers that bolt to the top of shock mount. I got slightlybigger tires and bough 1.25" spidertrax wheel spacers as well

Correct; it is a coil over. But if you bought them as individual parts, it consists of a shock and coil spring and together they become a coil over.

Anyway with that being said, a 2" spacer on top of your shock is just overkill for a spacer lift.

    Don't do it.

I'll let others chime in, I'm out.
