    doesnt matter

just match the amps 2 or 4ohm power ratings to the same as the sub

No. The 2 ohm vs 4 ohm is a rating of the impedence of the voice coils. It has no bearing on power handling, efficiency, cone surface area, or voice coil travel, which are the more important factors when looking for a sub that "hits harder".

Without being familiar with the newer versions of those stillwater design subs, I can't tell you for sure which is better in a Tacoma. However, the l5 was typically a less expensive version of the l7, having a lower power handling rating. But the Kickers in general are not very efficient, and this require a lot of power to get good output. But given enough power, they are some loud ass subs.

Also, it is important to know the amplifier that you are going to use to power the sub. That will better dictate what voice coil configuration will be the most optimal.

I'm not ignoring you. I addressed your post specifically. If you would care to explain why the 2 ohm VC would "hit harder" than I would more than gladly hear you out.

You alluded to having 40+ years of experience... as to what, I have no idea. Are you trying to be cryptic or sarcastic, because, I am interested in what you have to say.

I am just trying to give Burgess the best information possible and took exception to your single line reply that I think is unsubstantiated. I am just looking for some sort of tangible explination of your reasoning.

just match the amps power ratings to the subs ratings. get the full details on that amp... asf ar as if the amp puts out 750 watts max power, or rms. and at what ohm?

example: if its 750 RMS @ 2ohms... find a sub that that takes 750W @ 2ohms RMS, not max power handling.
