I have been told that it was changed about 100k, at the normal maintenance interval, but no one is sure and there is no documentation. I had a friend who had is original timing belt replaced after 290k on his 03 v6 and it looked completely fine still.
When I have the money it will be changed.

222,156 on a 97 4wd 4cyl. I have had it since '03 when it had 60,000. Still runs as good today as the day I got it. Only think I have done to it is replace the starter and replace the cracked exhaust manifold with a doug thorley header. I love my truck but lately I have been thinking about getting rid of it for a 2nd gen double cab, need more room for the family.

I just bought a one owner 96 with 250k on it. The diff blew up on it last spring and the guy's mechanic bought it off him, built a new diff for it, and sold it to me. Runs perfect. Our old 00 4Runner had 221k on it when we sold it and ran/drove just as well as it did when we bought it at 71k so I'm not a bit worried about the mileage.

2000 Xtra cab 2.7. Still in love. Replaced worn out cat. TRD Bilsteins replaced by 5100's. Of course, brake pads and rotors...not shoes. The disappointment is the knock sensor....changed at 105K. Same timing chain, alternator, starter and audio.

Needs valve cover gaskets. Other than that runs good.
