I have the 3 leaf springs.

But you're making an apples to llamas comparison.

The worst choice for hauling with these trucks is a double cab. Best choice is a regular cab.

Reason is that as you add cab between the front axle and the back axle, you push the bed (load area) further away from the front axle. As you do this, you reduce the percentage of the load that the front axle handles. Thus, you are actually increasing the amount of load the back axle handles.

Ergo, with equal loads and equal spring packs in a double cab and a regular cab, the double cab will always sag more.

Watching Goldfinger and they just crushed a 5,500 pound Lincoln Continental and dropped it into a '64 Ranchero. I think 2000 lbs in a Tacoma should be no problem then.

And in this case, like fuel economy and unlike snow, the Prerunner is better than the 4x4 because of it's higher cargo carrying capacity.

Dukes of Hazzard used to jump the General Lee too.

There was a movement persuading owners to refuse to sell their '68 and '69 Chargers to the studio. Somewhere between 250 and 350 of these now-valuable cars were destroyed making that series.

Aww, you just ruined goldfinger for me... other than a 300 lbs man getting sucked through a broken airplane window and coming out on the other side unharmed...

Unfortunately a 318 '69 Charger could be had in usable but rusty shape for less than $1000 back then. While a terrible waste, they did make over 90,000 69 Chargers.

The studio paid the family doing the mods $2k per when they were deemed no longer usable (plus $250/wk rental).

I'm sure the most desirable cars were spared and not sold to the studio, likely in part as you said, the 318 "Base models" would be cheaper than the nicer models or those with the 383 and 440.

    yes
Yes and no. While I agree that the double cab configuration has the end result you mentioned, the stock springs on the 2nd gen trucks are well known for being weak. In this case, yours more than others ... now. :)

The truth is that the OEM springs suck less as vehicle length and wheel base decreases, but differing degrees of suck is still suck. In the land of weak springs, the regular cab Tacoma is king.

"You are a wuss for not overloading your truck.. Fine, I'll do it with my Jetta!"
