Jack it up and measure the shaft. That will tell you the travel. Looks 14

I’m gonna be doing that, thanks for the suggestion. I see you’re running what looks like diamond axle on your front as well. What 3rd member are you running and tire size? Currently on 37’s on mine and thinking of going 40’s. I do have chromoly shafts front and rear. Land Cruiser high pinion for mine.

Sheeeeesh when I grow up I wanna be just like you. @Ricardo13x time for a 3rd case :anonymous:. I am thinking about double shearing mine as well, but only if I go bigger tire size. Can’t lose with 42’s! You got a build page or IG I can sub to?

No page. Based on measurement, 42 will still fit in the garage.

Forgot to add this gnarly gash from a nap to the driver side. I took a party line somewhere between winch hill 2 and 3 in Fordyce. Amazon for the broken tail light. Got a hatch from a pick and pull but the gap left by the dent is getting dust in as it’s not sealed completely so addressing that. Hopefully I can put some kinda protection/exo roll cage in the future.

Got the order to return to office and can’t let the elements get inside since it has to be daily’d along with the taco. Body shop handled it. Don’t care for cosmetics much but man it did turn out nice. Main issue of seal, resolved. Still gonna want protection on that d pillar/panel in the future.IMG_2711.jpg

Forgot to add, did a little straightening of the bent rotopax mount. Cut and rewelded.

definitely not a 16” coilover by any means. Safe to say, they’re Fox non- adjustable race series 2.0x14 as 16” springs are use on the 14” CO and the 2.50” diameter springs are for fox 2.0 and the 3.00” are for the fox 2.5. 16” CO use 18” springs. But you have a heavy lower spring rate, at 450lbs. Probably rides stiff. Most tuned coilovers are 150~175 top spring rate with 200~300 lower spring rate.

saw the clip of you tilting to the side. Time for beadlock.

    https://youtube.com/shorts/m6e2KIuSFGM?si=L7EMS7pputzZtutp

Roll cage add lots of weight and the 4R is top heavy already. The 5vz is sluggish without the solid axle and big tire. Add all that and it’ll feel like a struggling 22R, with pedal to the floor and not going anywhere lol. Even tho (depending on the exo cage) is street legal, you’re putting the 4R more into CHP radar with tire sticking out too far from the fender, having no mud flap etc and getting pulled over is not worth it IMO. I like staying low key.

It was time for beadlock so I did get them. I will post an update on the rig once I finish up what I’ve been working on. Might do some kinda half cage. I don’t wanna trailer this thing. Been checking out some different designs for them. Hoping not to grenade the rear 8” R&P as it will be the weak point (I’m also on 40’s now) but I am very light on pedal. Did add a rear truss. Hope it will help. Will take careful lines next time. I had an adrenaline high from getting up winch hill 2 so I took an optional party line that’s why it ended up on its side. Bit more than I can chew.

Personally, I would say 37 is the max size for 8” rear as 40 will be a matter of when not if. Must make sure the wheels spins or else the ring will go boom.

    Upgraded too

Ah nice can’t lose on 42’s! But yeah agree with you. I will be careful not to do the axle hop. Every 8” rear I saw blown is because of that, like you said, tires must spin and planted. We’ll see.

picture of what? 8” diffs blown out? Can’t remember exactly, either on YouTube or instagram over the years. I’ve seen at least 3 or 4. It’s a mix. On pirate, yotatech and ih8mud forums, many guys say they blow 8” diffs with 33’s, then you see some say they have 42’s and are not easy on the throttle with 8”. But one thing in common which makes most sense is that it’s all about proper diff set up: runouts, pinion spacer, all that, etc.
