2000 Tacoma. Can I disable the handle for the tailgate or get one that locks?

Hey guys, I have a problem. I'm wanting to get this bike rack for my truck. It mounts between the tailgate and the bed, and then I would lock my bike to it. Problem is my tailgate doesnt have a lock so it still leaves it pretty vulnerable.

So I'm curious if there is a way to disable the tailgate handle, while still keeping the tailgate firmly shut? I don't use the tailgate at all really so I won't sacrifice anything, and if its possibly it should take care of my locking problem.

Or are there aftermarket handles with locks I could get?

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure you could just unhook a lever so that when you pull the handle it doesn't do anything

Don't you have a locking tailgate. Mine came with a key and a key hole in the tail gate lever.

    This.
Take apart the back cover and remove the metal levers from the backside of the handle.
