2001 3.4L Temperature gauge intermittently pegs out at hot - Why?

    UPDATE: I was able to spin my fan fairly easily even though I haven't had a temperature spike in a couple of weeks. This afternoon (in 102 heat index) I replaced my fan clutch. Thank you to Slander for pointing me in the direction of the fan clutch and to everyone who offered assistance. Hopefully, this is the fix. With it being intermittent, only time will tell. A good test will be the next few days which are supposed to be in the mid to upper 90's.
