I'm completely New to audio and I need some help. I would like a decent sound system for under $300. I already have a very nice head unit ($200) and all I would need is new speakers and Amp? I'm looking for something that lasts and durable.

I bought 4 Alpine speakers that are very nice, $100/pair on crutchfield (see build thread for more info). As far as amps, i bought a big 5 channel amp to power all my speakers and sub. You could just get a 2 channel or something cheaper and get more volume and clarity out of the speakers. using an amp helps the lifetime of the speakers and less likely to cause distortion believe it or not.

An alpine amp also? My headunit is alpine too now that I think about it. I can't find the name of your speakers on the thread.

i don't think you need to get an alpine amp unless you want everything to be the same brand. My system is alpine deck and speakers, kenwood amp, and pioneer sub. lol
My speakers are Alpine SPS-517 (6x8"... very little modification needed)
