    Hello Everyone!

I am going to need my locking rear differential overhauled or replaced. I can't afford to do it right now and I don't drive the truck much. The differential is NOT leaking but when I had it changed, my mechanic showed me bits of metal shrapnel in the fluid. Any suggestions for not making it worse? ie, Should I change the fluid and keep plenty of fluid in it? All feedback is more than welcome!

    Simple Don`t drive it .

Are you talking just tiny pieces or good size chunks ??

Unless you plan to just replace the differential when it fails completely.

The bad part it only takes a small broken part to lock up the differential

What’s the gear ratio? I’ve got a 4.10 rear third member for sale here in the Bay Area.
