Unfortunately, none of the fittings that were attached to that rust goblin of a LSPV were salvageable. The brake line I ordered did come with a package of metric flare fittings (in the event I have to make my own lines).

I read on multiple posts that most folks have not been successful in re-flaring the used brake line. I didn’t even give that a try.

So far I'm attempting to salvage the old stuff, but we shall see. I reflared it already and it looks okay, but haven't gotten to test it yet.

I didn't noticeva rubber coating on mine, but I wouldn't think it necessary if I were making my own new stainless ones.

I agree if you are going the stainless route. I don’t have the tools to bend/flare SS line. I was originally going to replace the originals with bare copper/nickel lines, but I’m not sure these would be the best choice even for the limited amount of off-roading I do. I did a bit of research and they do make a PVF-coated brake line. I think this PVF (polyvinyl fluoride) coating is what the factory used.

Not sure how well the coating shows up in the photo but here is a picture of the end of my factory brake line that I cut.

    none yet
I'd assume its chafe/abrasion protection of some form
I'd coat the lines with a cosmoline coating then put some heater/vacuum line hose over the areas that might rub on the frame, it I was going it

Just for sh*tz-n-giggles, I did try recalling the factory line and every time I tried adding the double flare, it cracked the line. I called my local Toyota dealer and am just going to pick up a set of OEM ones later this week. Because this dealer doesn't have an online site, they charge more than the McGeorge and South Atlanta sites (which is shady) but at least i won't have to pay freight.

Waiting for a call from dealer about my lines. Sort of at a standstill.

Picked up brake lines yesterday from local Toyota dealer. Fellow at the parts counter warned me that putting these in was going to be really difficult (he didn’t know I had the bed off). I got them installed in about 15 min. Was very useful to have the parts diagram printed to know which one snapped in where.

Going to try and get everything back together tomorrow.

If you order them online from a local dealer and can go pick them up, it will run you about $100. That’s what Toyota South Atlanta and McGregor had them priced at. However, they wanted $300 to ship them to me via freight. . I called my local Toyota dealer who does not have an online store, and because I live in NJ, they of course charged me double for the lines ($200) but I was able to just drive 15 min to pick them up.

I pulled my new Spectra fuel tank out of the box today to start putting the pump and pickup in it and had a question. Does this have to be painted? The one I took out of the truck was either painted or coated black.

It looks the same as the new gas tank I put in my GTO over the summer. That same ‘bare galvanized’ look.

Gas tank is installed. So is LSPV , though I didn’t put the arm on it yet because I’m still waiting for a part.
