@Vince_igitol670 Can you give us some more details on your appointment and what went down? I have my appt tomorrow and do have a bigger-than-dime sized holes. Was it a one day quick process for them to inspect and make a decision? Did you have to show your title? Did the dealer make the decision or ultimately corporate? Just looking for any info you can give. Thanks

Showed up, was told they were going to do a frame inspection, instead took a picture of my license plate, Vin#, mileage. Then told me to go home and take out my belongings while they prep the rent a car, had a choice of Sedan, SUV, or a truck. I Went back signed some papers and they told me 2-3 months till I get my truck back. They'll give me a call if there is something that needs to be replace, and if I want it to be replaced, labor charges will be low. Went home with a 2017 Rav4!!!

I'm envious. My truck just passed the frame inspection, and I'm near the end of my warranty. While the frame looks bad on the outside, it has not succumbed to rust yet. Was hoping it would because with a new frame this would probably be the last truck I would own.

Look at it on the inside with a borescope.

Whack it with a ball peen at the rustiest point. You'll most likely have your hole.

Yeah, it's pretty flaky on the inside too. The dealer did everything they could to try to fail it, but she's holding her own. This one might have been given the only decent frame in the Northeast.

First thing is probably not to post your plan in public. But secondly, this seems risky. If it doesn't rust through enough to fail or the clock runs out before it does then all you've done is ruined your truck faster.

What does it mean to 'fail the frame safety inspection'? Is that different than just having a dime sized hole?

Just returned from the dealership here in Asheville and my 2004 TRD double cab qualifies. Frame has about a 12 inch gaping rust gash and I purchased it new 5 August 2004...just barley made it. They sent pics to Toyota and need to wait on their approval to replace the frame. Dealership said it should be no problem.

I have an 03 since new. In Pa it's entire life. I just beat on the frame the other day at the extreme areas and it's still solid. They weren't love taps either. I lucked out too. However, never went to dealership and got the spare tire holder replaced and my lost my spare somewhere along the way...lol!

Guys I just got my 2004 frame replaced last week.

They did a good job, but I do have an issue. The truck now has a pretty good vibration. I thinking carrier bearing angle has now changed.

Not sure why that would have changed? I would let them know. Aren't they responsible?

I just replaced mine on my 04 DC. Toyota bases coverage on your D.O.F.U (date of first use), its the original sale date. The coverage is 15 years from the DOFU. mine had a very late DOFU, August 29th, 2004. You could call Toyota and ask if you’re still covered, and if you are, take it in and have the frame inspected

Could be, but it stops when I take my foot off the gas.
