Alright, I am right in the thick of a full suspension overhaul on my tacoma. I have the cv axles out of the truck and when I started pulling the first one apart I noticed there was no visible snap ring above the tripod joint.

I'm not sure if the tripod slid over the snap ring or if it just broke off at some point and I missed it in the grease.

Should I try to continue advancing the tripod off of the axle or should I try to seat it back down to get access to the snap ring?

Gotta take off the lower snap ring, tap the tripod assembly down a bit then remove the upper snap ring, then the tripod can be removed. Don't forget to make match marks.

See the guide by the amazing @turbodb!
