not sure to be honest man. Hell I still haven't replaced the bulbs I have out yet lmao. Just looked at a video and doesn't look to bad so I'll put it on the list of things to get done before we start working crazy OT in Sept.

I just tore the dash off my 2004 Tacoma to get to both the HVAC lights and dash lights...both needed replacement bulbs. However...I installed new lights but they did not light up when I turned the truck on. What I am looking at is a bunch of unplugged connectors for when I took the dash apart. Do they all need to be plugged back for this to work? You email me at rbehers@hotmail.com I really need to figure this out today if possible...8/22/20

Man I still have not done mine yet. It's kind of a big deal but I guess not big enough to where I haven't done it yet I just have not made it a priority because I have more than one vehicle to drive. But I tell you what I suggested for faster and probably more responses John Tacoma World on Facebook 1st Gen Tacoma as they have you know groups for different Generations but that's instant responses and probably better help overall. If not better Just quicker response e

No problem. I'll tell you what man I was very thankful for the forums I've learned a lot over the years. It just seems that the groups everything's just more interested in faster but the forms I still good I still get emails and stuff from Graham and I replied to post and stuff every now and then from different groups with my Toyota in the Mustangs and stuff.

I keep reading that we the bulbs are only available from Toyota (if we don't go LED). Is this true? Previous owner gave me some Sylvania 2827's which look the same as what I see guys pulling out of the instrument cluster in videos, which I think are a replacement for 194's. Will these work on the speedo/tachometer? Got three bulbs out in the cluster.

I have to do this as well, half of my climate control lights are dead. I've been putting it off for a few years now...

I've got about half of my dash lights out, so I'm going to be jumping off replacing them soon. I have the factory "orange" lit gauges, but I'm digging the blue LED lights in the pics y'all have posted and the look they provide.

Dumb question: Is all I have to do is replace the four factory 194's with the LED blue 194's, or is there an orange film or something I'll have to remove in addition to the new bulbs?

Two out of the three climate control lights are out, as well, so any tips you could provide on them would be helpful as well.

I did my gauge lights a few weeks ago, they were just regular clear 194 bulbs with little orange condoms on them so they come off with the bulbs.

Super easy task, just a lot of screws to remove and get at the cluster.

Last year, I replaced my headlights with LED's & my hi beam indicator does not work anymore. All the rest of the lights work fine, but the orange color is the only thing I hate about the truck. Since the bulbs have an orange sleeve over them, I will look for a blue sleeve or LED as a replacement. Thanks guys for the info.

Thanks for the reply, your dash lights up great. I can see why you are proud of it. I will give it a whirl. ;-)

It's Poypul or is it Blue? Looks good.

Personally, if the lights have just started going out, that's a long life.
Stock replacements would be my choice, and I would replace every bulb while I was in there.

UV purple. Same as a UV blacklight.

Have to disagree on the stock replacments though. And heres why:

    20210321_131923.jpg

Heat, Amount of Power consumed; and Lifespan alone.

Reason LEDs do not dim as much is due to its resistance, or infinite resistance.

Can be fixed with a resistor inline with your light circuit, or output from your dimmer switch.

High beam indicator light might not be working due to the light being plugged in backwards. The polarity could be wrong and the lights wont come on. Most new LEDs or chip style LEDs work plugged in either way.

But if your high beams arnt working, you most likely have to switch 2 wires on your connector on the LED lights that plugs to the OE connector. Check to see if your fuse for High Beams has blown. When you pull the headlight switch back to kick on high beams. You might have sent 12V to ground inatead of your light. This got me for a while until i figured it out.

(This is an example. Not actual to your specific truck.)

My headlights work great, both on Hi & Low beam, it is just the indicator in the dash assembly that does not light up anymore!

I went & placed an order for the LED bulbs. The NEOx LED's were outta stock like ammo is everywhere, but all the rest were available for shipment. I just buttoned up the fanbelt replacement yesterday, so now I will dive back into the toolbox for more fun times with the Tacoma & get rid of that darn orange dash display!
