Personally I'm a Valvoline fan boy....grease, motor oil, coolant, transmission oil...but I couldn't pass up 26 dollars mobile 1 syn oil at Costco.

    Clean truck BTW enjoy it.

Just did a compression check and replaced my spark plugs and wires.

    Cylinder 1 - 175psi
    Cylinder 2 - 165psi
    Cylinder 3 - 170psi
    Cylinder 4 - 170psi
    Cylinder 5 - 169psi
    Cylinder 6 - 180psi

I think it's good, their is a 15psi difference between cylinders 2 & 8 but that is max acceptable difference. The spark plugs look good, #4 looks like it might have been loose. What do you guys think?

It does involve adding some x-gauge codes to you scangauge. I seem to recall it did require a ScanGaugeII but I also recall that SC will upgrage your unit if it is the older model.

Anyway, I really like keeping an eye on my trans fluid temps. If you tow, climb long uphill grades or off-road, your trans is generating significant heat. This gauge will identify that for sure.

Here is the x-gauge code for the tranny temp gauge:

    TXD: 68 6A F1 01 B4
    RXF: 04 41 05 B4 00 00
    RXD: 28 08
    MTH: 00 09 00 05 FF D8

Here is a link to the user manual for an SCII. The xgauge section is on page 26. It describes how to use the codes.

So last week I finally changed my oil to Mobil1 Synthetic and one quart of Lucas. Well it became an ordeal because what should have taken 4min or less became three hours. Short story previous person that changed the oil filter tightened too much. I tried undoing it by hand, leather belt, even regular oil filter clamp but no luck. Because it was too late to go to AuyoZone I ended up having to remove the alternator :(

Next time buy one of these:

I was in the predicament years ago in an old Chevy. A buddy showed me a trick that may work on a Tacoma. Drive a screw driver through the filter and use the handle to break it loose. Will be messy for sure but may save a lot of time.

I'm not a big fan of them but it gives my kids a good place to wipe their feet before they get on, we are always going swimming somewhere.

Time for the Tundra brake upgrade, found this one in my local junk yard out of a 2003 Tundra. Too bad the other one was damaged because they were only $27 each. So I still need to locate the second one, I'm thinking eBay. Thinking about going with the Brembo plain rotors and the auto zone gold pads. Also painting them red with G2 kit.image.jpg image.jpg Any other recommendations?
