Can someone educate me as to why all the retrofits have that bump up in the projected light cut off. I was always under the impression that a complete horizontal cut off was most desired.

When you're driving you want light in front of you and to the right way ahead of you. Therefore the "step." The left of the step has light in front of your vehicle and the right side illuminates the right side down the road. For pedestrians and whatnot on the shoulder when you're driving. Also for oncoming drivers. In the UK it would no opposite. The only car I currently know of that doesn't have a step, with stock projectors, is the Toyota Camry. Completely flat and not sharp at all.

None of the links worked for me and your pics didn't load either. Really want to do this because mine are garbage. Not to mention that they are so mis-aligned its hilarious. Around how much did it cost for those and all the accessories you need? And how long was installation for both the projectors and the fog light mod?

Ah now I understand. Thanks for the insight!

(uncomfortable pun: "thanks for sheding light on that")

Foglight mod about 10 minutes, and that was with cutting corners and quick splices. I've since cleaned it up. As for the retrofit...to your doorstep, $210. I already had good ballasts so no need to buy a pair. The Mini H1's, shrouds, bulbs, and wiring harness. I took my time actually assembling, but the take off and tear down was the easiest. In total, about 7 hours if I worked continuously. I worked on them at night, mostly Thursday/Friday. Then buttoned everything up on Saturday, tested and made s triple sure everything was aligned on Sunday. Good to go by monday. I had everything laid our and planned out. I let things sit over night and even more than 36 hours just so that there was ZERO chance that the fumes would fog up the lenses. I will update the page tomorrow evening after I get home. Pictures will all be up again. I'll upload them directly to TW so there's no chance of them being faulty. Just hang tight y'all!

My pleasure sir! I was riding in my friends Mazda yesterday. Impressive headlights. They're adaptive so they pivot when you make a turn. But the step seemed worse than mine. I used to think mine were horrible, but there was like little light in front of the driver side, but the passenger side and down the road was completely lit up.

And for an update for the sake of the longevity of the bulbs, projectors, and sealing the headlights, EVERYTHING is as if I did the retrofit yesterday. I've been to the dunes a few times and ran my truck pretty hard. I've taken it through the small trails in my town. They have not budged a single centimeter. No moisture has gotten in even when I cleaned my engine bay. Just don't be dumb and spray directly at the back of the headlight housing. The bulbs I got from TRS are still true white along with the ballasts I have.

SO, if you're thinking of doing this and hesitating...I say DO IT! You won't regret it and you'll enjoy driving at night more. Especially once people start asking what kind of headlights you have. You can tell them you did it yourself! :woot:

Wired into parking lights. Parking lights have two wires, red from the halos goes to positive on the parking light (i think its green... not sure... check when you do it.) And then white goes to negative. Solder the wires together and then heat shrink them together. Super easy just not a lot of wire to work with...

Great info. Yeah Def not a lot of wire to work with. I'm worried about then relays, since they mentioned it has to be in standing position for longevity.

Relays? You mean the ballasts in an upright position?

Nope, I actually meant relays, the ballast can be position however you can but the relays have to be in the upright position.

4th and 5th picture down in the original post. On the truck, pop open the hood, driver's side will be the bottom corner closer to the side of the truck and vice versa for the other side. You'll need a 4mm socket. Clockwise adjusts up, counter-clockwise adjusts down.
