Why for some reason one on the left looks slimmer then the right one? Both ARB for 05+ tacoma. The one on the left i will buy one. But most likely will go with hilux version

    Check out the build
It looks significantly smaller. It looks like it's on the same truck. Is one a prototype?

Thanks to all who posted here. Like so many, I read over most of the posts (a few times) in preparing for our snorkel install. We were debating between the SS135MODR kit and the SS171HP made specifically for the 2nd gen Tacoma. We decided to go with the SS171. Our main reason for choosing this one was the ease of installation. It was much more of a “plug and play” setup. The install was fairly easy. It took us about 3 ½ hours, but we were stopping regularly to take pictures and video. Here are a few pictures:

    IMG_0673.jpg

A few notes that hopefully help others on their install:

The hole saw used is 114mm (4 ½”). Instructions call for a 16mm bit (approx. 5/8”) to be used for the snorkel body mounting bolts, but this was quite generous in our case. I used a ½” bit and there was still room to move around to get it positioned correctly. Also, the instructions call for a 14mm bit (approx. 9/16”) as pilot holes for the two large hole saw cuts. My hole saw pilot is ¼” so using a 9/16” bit here would allow the large saw to dance around preventing a clean cut. Needless to say, I piloted ¼” on these two holes. A Unibit cuts a cleaner hole in sheet metal than a twist drill, is less likely to bind and is short enough to prevent contact inside the fender. I taped the fender flare and door seam to prevent shavings from falling into them, but wish I would have closed the hood and taped that seam as the 4 ½” saw really throws shavings everywhere. Instead of drilling holes in my A-Pillar, I decided to use 3M VHB tape. I will post how well this holds up. If we need to drill later, there is enough flex in the body to do so.

I am very happy with the end result. I was a little worried about the size of the new body. Some pictures make it look massive but when viewed with the entire truck, I think it looks good. Thanks again to Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters.

    Ryan

    Update:

I stated in the original post I would report back on how well the 3M VHB tape held up. I am happy to say that after more than a year it is holding tight. There is absolutely no separation and even when I pull on it slightly, it shows no signs of letting go. There are no mechanical fasteners (or holes drilled) in the A-Pillar…only the tape. Even if I had to replace this on a yearly basis this would still be my preferred method to attach the snorkel tube to the body.

A little of this and a little of that
Just a little correction to the post above.. The hole saw you need is a 114mm, which is 4.5" not 3.5".

Anybody out there know you can fit this Snorkel on TRD CAI on a 2011 Tacoma?

Which ditch light brackets are you running and were there any clearance issues?

Do you have room to turn the pods to angle them to the side other than straight forward?
